Beer (025)

When people told me that beer is an acquired taste, I was convinced that I would never acquire the taste for it. My drinks of choice were sweet, super sugary cocktails that provided instant heartburn and headaches. As a result, I did not drink often. My ex-husband kept Miller Lite in the house, which objectively tastes like piss, so my acquisition was prolonged even further.

In my late twenties, I was determined to find a beer I could sip and enjoy while participating in group activities. Marijuana was making me too paranoid, and I wanted something to help me relax. I started asking for sweet beers and ciders at bars with numerous taps. Luckily, Michigan has been growing a craft beer industry for the past two decades, and I was not alone in my search for a beer that is actually enjoyable. It ended up not taking much convincing once I knew what to ask for.
