Am I a victim of advertising if I enjoy the products and actually use them? Marketing companies have figured out how to use FOMO via social networks as a sales tool, and they are getting very good at it. There are plenty of purchases on which I have wasted money. Frivolous purchases account for a majority of my belongings, but those are dwindling in frequency.
I have started paying more attention to the products used by people from whose behaviors I draw inspiration. I have discovered that I love using quality nail polish as a quiet activity that ends with a lasting enjoyable aesthetic. I enjoy drinking a protein oats shake for breakfast. I enjoy making a flavorful tea as a treat instead of reaching for carbonated fructose. I enjoy writing in a daily planner as a way to track my actions. It’s fun to cook three delivered recipes every week that I may not otherwise seek. My life has been positively impacted by paying closer attention to those influencing.
