Upon checking in at the resort yesterday, we asked how much it would be to upgrade to a swim out room. They are only offered with the additional preferred guest services, and there is no way to separate the services from the room. So when they offered us the room at an additional $130 per night, we gasped and said "no way!" And then they ushered us to the lunch buffet at 2pm, telling us our room would be ready at 3pm. While eating a meal that neither of us were hungry for, we talked about the room upgrade. I looked up the price difference on the website, finding that it is only an additional $66 night.

After we ate, we walked back up the steps to the concierge to ask about why the price is so much more from them than on their resort company's website. We were able to get the swim out room for only $70 per night, and we were sold. Mike paid with his credit card that racks up the rewards points on travel, the first either of us have had, excited for the rewards. Handed the receipt, saying thirty one thousand and some odd change in currency, we both sat back in our chairs, trying to figure out if they had charged us correctly. The gentleman helping us with the upgrade assured that the rate was putting us at roughly $560 USD, and telling me the exchange rate. It was a long day of travel, and I do not hear well in the type of environment we were in, so I googled the conversion and did it myself. It was correct, and Mike signed the paper. Never mind the fact that we later realized the price difference on the website was per person. Score!

Neither of us have ever stayed in a swim out room, so we were excited about it. We invited our friends, who traveled to the Dominican Republic for the first time with us this year, and we swam until after 11pm. We have no regrets, and plan to probably do the same tonight after the magic show. Though, I might stay dry. We spent over six hours in the pool and sun today, so my skin may ask for a break tonight. I'll probably sit on the edge of the pool if they come over. Mike and I are preparing for a couple's lobster dinner tonight on a roof top. I'm pretty pumped about that.
