Fix (039)
I am capable of doing a lot of things for myself. Apparently, crimping down an electrical connector isn’t one of them. I just don’t have the grip strength that it requires, so Mike graciously assisted in that portion of fixing Papaw’s globe light. I was able to do the rest.
My family grew up poor, and that didn’t really change when I came into the picture. We had to fix our stuff and make it last if we wanted to keep it. I want to keep this globe light. There are many places on the electrical cord that have been chewed up, possibly by the cats my mother adopted after I moved out. I was very much allergic, so they were never an option before. I taped up the spots where the cord was exposed. One day, I will rewire it, but for now, the cord has been spliced back together, a switch added within reach of the couch. A 1700 lumens LED bulb lights the living room from a lamp that once illuminated Papaw’s small trailer home. I think he’d be proud that I fixed it.
