My favorite scent is only available naturally for a short period during the year. At least, here in Michigan. I will take any opportunity to stop and smell the flowers, literally, because I love it so much. It’s the smell of fresh lilacs. I have pulled the car over to stick my face into a giant lilac bush, just before snatching a small bunch of flowers from it to take with me so I can sniff it until it no longer smells.

It occurred to me yesterday that I might be able to purchase lilac scented perfume, so I did what you do when you’re curious about something, I googled it. Turns out, it’s a fairly popular scent for perfumes, and there is a company that makes some with natural oils sold conveniently at Target. I made my way to Target today with the one goal of purchasing this perfume. Turns out, it smells exactly like lilacs and it’s lovely. I haven’t been able to stop sniffing my arm since I sprayed it on. It brings me back to Kentucky as a five year old with wiwac bushes in front of her brick house.
