Jorah's First Time at the Dog Park

Happy Vernal Equinox 2019

With the weather finally breaking, Jorah has been begging us to take him outside more. We need to listen. Yesterday, Mike and I were going to take him on a standard walk around our apartment complex area, just shy of two miles. I decided at the last minute that it would be fun to bring him to the dog park, and that’s what we did.

At 2pm, I wasn’t sure there would be many dogs for him to run around with. Luckily, I was wrong. Jorah was the happiest I’d seen him in months! There was an eleven month old little girl, maybe a few pounds bigger than Jorah, that was eager to chase him and roughhouse.

Her name is Evie and she sure liked Jorah. Maybe it is Eevee, but I didn’t take her retirement-aged mother to be a Pokemon fan. If Jorah gets another date with her, I will ask.

To the right is a caption I took from video, so please excuse the poor photo quality. Speaking of video, I did take lots of it! You can check out my latest vlog on YouTube and let me know what you think!

Evie’s mom took her into the next run over to play with a fifteen pound cotton ball named Killer, so Jorah was left to antagonize the other, lazier dogs left in the enclosure. He had some fun with them, but not as much. It took about ten minutes to decide on bringing him to the next enclosure over where Evie was happily running around with labradors and full size poodles. She didn’t want much to do with Jorah the second time around.

Jorah didn’t think twice about Evie. He found some big dogs to run with! He must have been a bit intimated by their sizes because he stayed a few feet away from them instead of crashing into them like he did to the small dogs. Once he realized the two big dogs were getting a bit more aggressive, he backed off and found comfort between me and Mike.

He was quite worn out by then, and we made our way to the front gate. It won’t be long before we go back, I promise, Jorah.
